The Department of Public Law is one of the academic departments at the College of Law, and its membership includes professors specialized in the field of public law.

 Public law is that branch of law related to regulating public affairs relationships, that is, those relationships in which the state is a party, and includes a relationship in it, and includes the relationship of individuals with the state, the relationship of state institutions with each other, and the state’s relationship with other states and international institutions.

 Accordingly, the Department of Public Law academically includes faculty members specialized in public law with advanced qualifications, which includes the following precise specializations:-

 International law: It is the branch of law that regulates the state’s relationship with other persons of international law (states - international organizations) or its relationship with individuals (citizens and foreigners).

 Constitutional law: It is that branch of law related to the organization of public authorities in the state, the jurisdiction of each of them, and their relationship with each other (legislative authority - executive authority - judicial authority), and the relations of state agencies with individuals in terms of public rights and freedoms.

 Administrative law: It is that branch of law related to the activity of public administration in the state, its means of managing public facilities, the rules that govern this activity, and the settlement of disputes arising in connection with it.

 Financial law: This is the branch of law related to the organization of the state’s public revenues and expenditures in terms of the sources of the state’s budget, the aspects of its expenditure, and the resolution of disputes arising in connection with it.

The Department of Public Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tripoli seeks the highest levels of excellence;  To be at the forefront of the corresponding departments at the national and international levels in the quality of the academic program it offers, by conducting research in the fields of this deep specialization in a way that reflects on Libyan society.

Mission

It seeks to serve the Libyan community and develop it intellectually in the legal field. It also seeks to create scientific competencies with a pioneering and effective role in accordance with quality standards, especially programs related to legal activity, encouraging creativity, keeping pace with research progress, familiarity with scientific and cognitive foundations, and raising the level of performance to standard levels in terms of professional and ethical behavior to ensure its quality.  Activating contact with researchers and corresponding colleges to benefit from the experiences of others.

Objectives

The Department of Public Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tripoli seeks to provide distinguished legal education for the undergraduate and postgraduate levels that adopts international standards in the field of specialization.

 The Department of Public Law aims to prepare a generation of graduates qualified with distinguished cognitive and research skills to advance legal work in the public and private sectors.

 The Public Law Department seeks to contribute effectively to spreading legal awareness and consolidating the values ​​of justice in Libyan society.

 Teaching contemporary, emerging and comparative legal sciences.

 Paying attention to organizing specialized and in-depth legal conferences, seminars and seminars.

 Meeting the needs of the department’s faculty members and students with technological developments
